The Problem Of Human Trafficking - 1080 Words

The Source Awakens When I found out about my first essay, I was not ready to begin my research. I honestly did not want to think about it but the due date was inevitable. The thought of writing my essay was frightening enough but deciding on a topic and searching for sources was a completely different story. After a few sleepless nights, I finally decided on my topic, human trafficking. I chose this topic because I believe human trafficking is a problem not only in America but worldwide and needs to be taken seriously. My strong dislike for research papers is not something to hide but I am hoping for the best for this essay and the class. Louise Shelley wrote a print source called â€Å"Human Trafficking: A Global Perspective†, and it was published by Cambridge University Press in New York in 2010, page 1+. To find my second source, I had to really think about what human trafficking meant. I went to the articles and database tab and looked at some the many databases listed. I came across the Business Source Complete database and typed in human trafficking. I chose this specific database because it seemed like a legitimate search engine and would contain the solid facts that I needed. This database provided over 2000 results and as I began skimming through the articles, I came across a PDF full-text article called â€Å"Victim Intervention Marketing: An Application of Social Activist Marketing in Opposition to Human Trafficking.† This article seemed interesting because of one section, â€Å"Problems with Extant Definitions of Human Trafficking†. This made my wheels begin to spin and I took notice to the definition provided by the U.S. Department of State on human trafficking. Society and our government needs to expand on this so called definition to help broaden the spectru m of victims.
